Online Booking

Laura Wallis

Laura Wallis, one of our Lakeside Seafood & Grill team members has shared with us her incredible journey of 60 workouts in 60 days from the North Pole to the South Pole dressed as Wonder Women!

On February 6 2018, Laura began her journey at Crossfit Mozomo in Collingwood.  As she marks 30 years of age, she has been inspired to complete 20 marathons and 50 countries, including all 7 continents. This is an incredible journey and we are so proud of Laura!

WHAT INSPIRED YOUR JOURNEY OF 60 WORKOUTS IN 60 DAYS FROM POLE TO POLE?

This is a personal challenge and only has the name I have given it! It initially started out as the Antarctica Marathon, which I booked 4 years ago and decided to do to mark my 30th birthday back in January.
Crossfit Mozomo had been amazing to me. They believed in me when others didn’t and have supported all of my crazy ideas. The owners, Michele and John Smeh are an inspiration and I wanted their club to be part of my journey.
This is where I came up with the 60 Workouts in 60 Days, from Pole to Pole, Powered by Crossfit Mozomo.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO DO 60 WORK OUTS IN 60 DAYS?

I created this journey simply because I can. I love to travel and to push myself which is why I decided to combine the two! There is a whole world out there to explore- I love seeing new places and experiencing new things!

WHAT MAKES YOUR JOURNEY UNIQUE?

I am doing this as Wonder Woman! I will wear the full costume at times but otherwise every workout I do, I will wear something with Wonder Woman on it. I have also engaged with people around the world asking them to send me workouts to do on my journey. This way any one who wanted to be part of it could be.

WHY WONDER WOMEN?

I am doing this for all the Wonder Women out there that do amazing things everyday! I want to help show people that you can do anything you set your mind to if you’re willing to put the work into it. I have lost count of how many hours over the past 4 years I have worked for this trip. I don’t have any sponsorship, this is entirely self funded. Crossfit Mozomo have given me some Pruvit Ketones to help power me on my way. I am lucky to have amazing family and friends that have helped by either getting me equipment, lending me things or going back and forth to airports!

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS WHILE ON YOUR JOURNEY?

The only part of this journey that is an actual competition is the Antarctica Marathon, which is run by Marathon Tours and Travel. I plan to be the first woman in the world to complete the race dressed as Wonder Woman. I am excited to participate in this marathon for my personal success!

WHAT IS YOUR NEXT JOURNEY THAT YOU ARE WORKING TOWARDS?

I am not exactly sure what the next journey will be but there is definitely one! I want to be part of the Seven Continents Marathon Club. Although I have been to Africa and South America I still need to race on them so that will definitely be in the future. I also want to be part of the Hundred Marathon Club and at 20 I still have a long way to go but I’ll get there!.
